A sincere thank you to all the Portland Bulldog Challenge competitors and race volunteers
Beautiful weather and the efforts of many volunteers and supporters made Saturday, May 18th a great day for the Portland High School Blue and White Club’s inaugural Bulldog Challenge mud and obstacle race held on the grounds and trails surrounding the Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS). This wonderful community event would not have been possible without the support of our many local sponsors as well as numerous volunteers from Portland High’s parent and student community. We had over 150 individuals and teams run, climb and crawl their way through mud, water, culverts and other obstacles all along the way to the finish line.
We deeply appreciate the time and efforts of all the volunteers who donated their time and effort to make this first time event such a resounding success. We have gotten nothing but positive feedback from all participants and we look forward to starting the planning process for the 2014 Portland Bulldog Challenge shortly.
We are very grateful to the following organizations for their generous financial support: Bangor Savings Bank, Seafax, Norton Insurance, Hannaford Supermarkets, St. Joseph’s College and the Portland Dog Wash. A special thanks goes out to Portland Medcu for providing race day coverage for the event as well as Dynamics Fitness for their technical assistance of the race course design and pre-race warm-ups and Pinscher Designs for our website design and support. We also want to acknowledge the following businesses that donated building materials and helped with construction assistance for the course: Rufus Deering Lumber, EJ Prescott Pipe Specialists, Harold Brooks Construction, ProTurf Landscape Company, LA Lawn Care and Oak Hill Ace Hardware. We truly appreciate the wonderful cooperation and assistance of Principal Mike Johnson of PATHS and his staff for allowing us to “share” their school campus with the Portland High Blue and White Club as hosts of this event.
Thank you to the following local businesses for providing refreshments to the runners and fans: Oakhurst Dairy, Amatos and Dunkin Donuts. We also thank National Distributors for supplying BodyArmor sports drinks and bottled water for our runners.
We hope to have photos of the event posted shortly on our website www.portlandbulldogchallenge.com If you have any photos from the event you can share, please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can post your photos as well.
